Model Diaries with Lexi Wood

Photographed by Andrew Day

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
I always run straight to the kitchen to make myself a huge coffee and put on a good vibes playlist. My mom and sister manage my career, so we usually have a morning check-in where we review everything that's going on and make a plan for the day.

If you could swap lives with any celebrity for a day, who would it be?
Zendaya, 100% (a fellow Modeliste cover girl, hehe). I admire her career so much—she has an amazing partner, and she seems to have a great balance between hustling and enjoying life. I love that she’s so multi-talented and prioritizes her happiness above all.

What’s your go-to guilty pleasure snack?
Chocolate-covered strawberries!

What’s been the most exciting modeling job you’ve ever done?
I’ve been so lucky to shoot so many amazing projects in my career. From shooting in Bali, Australia, the UK, and Paris, it’s been such a blessing to experience so much of the world through my job. Every day is exciting.

If you could live in any decade for fashion, which one would you choose?
I’d love to be in my 20s in the 2000s. I love the mini skirts, the accessories, the glam! Ugh, it was such a fun time for fashion. A lot of those styles are coming back now through the pop music girls, and I’m loving it.

What’s one fashion trend you secretly love but would never admit?
I’m a huge low-rise pants fan. The lower, the better.

What’s the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done?
A boyfriend and I got each other's names tattooed after dating for two weeks (mine was in white ink, and we were friends for seven years before getting the tattoos—in my defense). It’s covered now. I’m a lover, what can I say!

If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A micro-mini skirt, a lace corset, an oversized men's jacket, and a little strappy heel. I love the contrast between masculine and feminine styles working together to create the perfect outfit.

What’s your dream destination for a fashion shoot?
I have so many places on my list. I love contrast, so I think it would be really cool to shoot swimwear in a winterscape and a ballgown on the beach.

What’s your hidden talent?
I’m double-jointed and hypermobile. I always try to make sure my arms aren’t bending backward in photoshoots, lol.

What’s one thing people don’t know about the modeling industry?
I’m so grateful for the modeling industry, but I think people underestimate how lonely it can be. It’s amazing to have these unbelievable experiences, but most of the time, you’re experiencing them alone, without family or friends. It’s also the worst feeling in the world to be on location with an amazing crew and models, then wrap and potentially never work with them again. Some of my closest friends that I’ve met through modeling live in Spain, Sweden, and the UK. There are little pieces of my heart everywhere.

If you had to pick a signature fragrance, what would it smell like?
Fluffy marshmallows, brown sugar, and vanilla.

If you could be best friends with any fictional character, who would it be?
Olivia Pope. No explanation necessary.

What’s your favorite emoji?
This kissing emoji.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?
Dancing Machine – The Jackson 5.

If you could design your dream fashion collection, what would be the theme and what would it be called?
Stay tuned for Fall 2025! Ahhhhhh!

How do you stay balanced with such a busy schedule?
My family and friends keep me balanced. I lean on my people when I’m feeling overwhelmed, and I try to stay present and take everything moment by moment. I’m really lucky to have so much energy, and I love the fast pace of this industry.

What do you love most about Modeliste magazine, and what would you like to say to your fans?
Modeliste is the best! There are so many teams and models that I admire who have been featured in the magazine, and I’m honored to be a part of it!

To my supporters—I’m so grateful to have had such a long career in this crazy world. I started modeling at 11 years old, and I feel like my followers and supporters have been able to grow up with me. I’m so excited for the next chapters of my career and how we can keep evolving together.

What’s next for you in 2025?
February is a very exciting month for me! We’re starting the year strong, and there are so many exciting projects I’m looking forward to in 2025. I’m excited for my supporters to see different sides of me this year—personally and professionally. I don’t want to jinx it, but I think 2025 is my year.
