How did you begin your career?
I started my modeling career at 16 years old while living in a tiny Texas town. My best friend and I saved up for a camera and began having our own photoshoots pretty much daily until I booked my first job with a fitness apparel company a year later! From there, I moved to Miami and got signed by Ford Models and began consistently booking jobs. Since then, modeling has been a major part of my life and has created many amazing experiences for me!

At age 19, I started my business, Mal Swim. After years of sewing and creating my own clothing, I decided to start my own swimwear company while in my bedroom I shared with my younger sister. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing when I first started. At first, I’d sell one swimsuit a month (probably to a family friend), eventually, it became two. After a bit, two a week and then it just went up from there. I am proud to say I have been running Mal Swim for 6 years.

How do you hope to inspire people through your social media platform? What can your followers expect to see when visiting your social media page(s)?
I hope to inspire people to be completely and unapologetically themselves. I want my followers to know that they can achieve literally anything they put their minds to if they work towards it.

When visiting my socials, whether it be Instagram or Tiktok, you can expect to see recent modeling jobs, glimpses of my travels, my favorite skincare products, and my current makeup routine.

What do you predict will be the biggest makeup trends this fall?
I predict the slight “chocolatey” lip color will be in this fall. At least, I’ll definitely be wearing it. I can see 90s style eye makeup looks being popular… which I’m totally here for.

What was your favorite part about your stay at The Conrad Punta Mita?
Where do I begin? The food was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed trying a different restaurant every night… and ordering churros to my room while watching movies in the comfy hotel bed. The room was so beautiful, clean, and spacious and included many thoughtful touches. The staff was incredibly welcoming and made our stay remarkable. I am so thankful for the staff at The Conrad Punta Mita!

Do you have any upcoming travel plans? If so, where?
Yes! I am very fortunate to be traveling to Turks and Caicos in a few weeks to shoot some cool content for my brand Mal Swim. Additionally, I will be traveling throughout Europe over the summer to enjoy new breathtaking places and experiences.

What was your favorite thing about Punta Mita?

There are so many things to love about Punta Mita, it is difficult to narrow my favorite things down to one. The warm, tropical weather accompanied by the beautiful beach was to die for. The food was incredible as well. I could eat ceviche every single day. Finally, the people! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming which made our stay even more wonderful.

What's your go-to airport look? Essentials to pack in a carry on?
Cute and cozy! Yoga pants or sweats are a must! I love pairing comfy pants with a cute crop top and hoodie/jacket.

My carry on is always stuffed beyond capacity from the amount of random items I bring. My top 5 carry on essentials are: AirPods Max, hand sanitizer, a sleeping mask, lip oil, and a blanket.

Girls night in or Girls night out?

Girls night IN. Don’t get me wrong, I love going out with the girls, but to me, there is nothing better than ordering food, drinking wine, and curling up on the couch to watch a movie with my besties.

What's a typical work week like for you? Any advice you have for staying productive throughout the week?
As a model and business owner, my schedule always changes and is completely unpredictable. Between being on set, travel, content creation, and overseeing Mal Swim, I have a very busy and time consuming schedule… and I love it!

In my personal experience, the key to a productive day starts as soon as you wake up. I always make my bed, stretch, and workout in the morning. Feeling a sense of accomplishment early pushes me to complete more tasks throughout the entire day. Additionally, being organized helps keep me on track each day of the week. For example, I write down everything that I have to get done on a to-do list to ensure I complete every task that I have for the week. The small things make a huge difference.

What's your current skincare routine? Any products you'd recommend for our Modeliste readers?
I start by double cleansing (currently obsessed with Tatcha’s Rice Wash) followed by toner and my favorite serums. I have been a fan of The Ordinary’s hylauronic acid for a few years. Niacinamide, which helps strengthen the skin’s barrier, is also a must for me. In addition to these, I will forever be in love with the Image Vitamin C spray. My last two steps are moisturizer and most important, sunscreen!

At night, I like to use COSRX 0.5 retinol. Typically, I use the sandwich method because retinol can be harsh at times. This consists of using moisturizer, retinol, and moisturizer again.

What's something your followers would be surprised to know about you?

Some people may be surprised to know that I am very goofy and also quite opinionated! On social media, I have been told that my photos make me look very serious or intimidating, but in person I am the complete opposite.

Where do you gain inspiration for content? Any tips & tricks you'd like to share for those inspiring to have a career like your own?
The 90s! I am in love with throwback fashion editorials. A lot of my photos are inspired by iconic 90s film campaigns. Many elements of 90s fashion and photography have a timeless quality that I really appreciate.

Pinterest is also a huge way that I find inspo for content! Not only can you find literally everything on there, it is just so easy to use and being able to categorize photos is great for organization.

Take time to sit down and think about what you truly desire. Make a vision board or list of goals you’d like to accomplish and write down ways in which you can make your dreams possible! Saying these goals aloud or putting them down on paper is the first step and biggest tip I can give when it comes to starting a career. Believe in yourself, set boundaries, and don’t take no for an answer!

How do you stay true to yourself?
Sticking to my morals and values helps me stay true to myself. I keep myself surrounded by supportive and authentic people and try my best to dismiss others’ judgements of me…especially if they do not know me personally. Being honest and setting boundaries for myself has really allowed me to gain self love and remain genuine.

What would you like to say to your fans/followers?

Learn to fall in love with yourself and don’t be afraid to show yourself grace. With so much pressure to be perfect in today’s society, it feels so difficult to keep up and so easy to be hard on oneself. However, when we give ourselves more grace and love, we open up doors to live an even better and more abundant life that we deserve.
