“Beauty Rewritten” started out as a term paper but it soon after lead up to Nistan’s successful career as a blogger and a social media consulting company. Nitsan has created her platform to redefine society’s beauty standards and does so by sharing her authentic love for style, beauty, and lifestyle.
Modeliste: Where are you from?
Nitsan Raiter: I am originally from Israel. I was born and raised in Israel and moved to Toronto about 18 years ago with my family. That’s where I’m based right now.
Modeliste: What is the meaning behind your name?
My name in Hebrew actually means the bud of the flower before it blossoms, but I actually go by Nits a lot because a lot of people can’t really pronounce it here in North America, so you can call me Nits.
Modeliste: What is your favorite holiday?
Nitsan Raiter: My favorite holiday is Christmas. I just love the atmosphere. I think everyone is so happy and it’s so nice, and everything is all decorated. And also my birthday falls a few days right after Christmas, so I feel like everyone’s kind of just celebrating. It’s just so much fun.
Modeliste: If you could switch lives with anyone for a day, who would it be?
Nitsan Raiter: If I could switch lives with anyone for a day, I think it would be Emily Weiss, the founder of Glossier. I would just love to see what it takes to run a full on empire and beauty brand. I would love to do something like that but I think it’s just overwhelming, so to be in her shoes and have it already kind of set up and just see what goes on would be really cool.
Modeliste: What are you most excited about this year?
Nitsan Raiter: I am most excited these days about the new year. I think there’s something really cool about starting a new year and setting resolutions, and feeling like you have a clean slate to work with, so I’m excited about that. My new year resolution is to learn how to turn off a little bit more. I tend to get really focused and just caught up in work, but it’s really important for me to learn to just turn off and enjoy where I’m at, like Punta Cana right now, and just the process as well.
Modeliste: What is your favorite fashion trend?
Nitsan Raiter: I think my favorite fashion trend of all time would have to be high waisted jeans, or high waisted trousers. I just think they’re so comfortable, so flattering, and you can wear them in so many ways. I’m wearing them right now. They’re my favorite. I think my least favorite trend that I wish would go away would be really small sunglasses, I just feel like I can’t pull them off. So maybe that’s why, I’m just salty but I just like the bigger the better.
Modeliste: Name three things on your bucket list.
Nitsan Raiter: Three things on my bucket list. One is to actually move to New York City. I’ve always pictured myself living in New York in my twenties, in my apartment or my New York office and just pushing myself to work even harder every day. There’s something really cool about that city. The second thing on my bucket list I think would be to have my own brand. I’ve always pictured myself too, having some type of company, whether it’s a service or a product in beauty or fashion, and just turning what I’m doing my now into an even bigger business. The last thing on my bucket list would be to travel in Europe with a backpack, a backpacking trip. I tend to always over pack, I’m known for always having way too much stuff and taking way too long to get ready. So I’d love to just put myself in a really simple situation and just enjoy Europe for what it is.
Modeliste: What is your favorite country to travel to?
Nitsan Raiter: My favorite country to travel to, I have two. One is obviously Israel because that’s where I’m from, but I’ve also really loved Greece. I think Greece is so beautiful and has something really special about it, and it’s just so easy to get there too.
Modeliste: What has been your favorite part about your stay in Punta Cana?
Nitsan Raiter: My favorite part about this getaway was obviously staying at CHIC Mansion. It’s beautiful, obviously Punta Cana is so hot and where I’m from right now in Toronto it’s very cold, so I love being in a warm climate. But I’ve also loved getting to know everyone from the magazine and all the girls that are here on the trip and from the resort. It’s been a lot of fun. What I love the most about the CHIC property has to be the mansion. I think the mansion is so cool. It’s so beautiful. It just feels like one big girl’s house and it’s been so much fun. What I love the most about Modeliste magazine is just women empowerment. I think it’s so cool that the magazine features different women from all over the world and just supporting women in business, and just women supporting women. I think that’s the coolest part.
