Longing for adventure and the inspirational beauty of nature? America’s National Parks notoriously provide an abundance of both, beckoning all ages to explore and discover a sense of wonder and appreciation of all Nature has gifted us. After months of sensory monotony and deprivation, Modeliste ventured to travel to California’s magnificent Yosemite National Park, a journey filled with the joy of anticipation. From the time famed photographer Ansel Adams introduced the world to the wonders of Yosemite in his stunning black and white images, the natural beauty of its 360 degree vistas has drawn travelers from around the world to its treasures in the California Sierra Mountains. The iconic formations of Yosemite stand tall in mystique and memory…. the majestic granite cliffs of El Capitan and Half Dome, the ancient forests of giant Sequoias, the breathtaking plunging waters of Bridalveil Fall and its many cousins, a plethora of endless wonders punctuate the landscapes of heights and deep valleys.

Eager to experience even a part of all that Yosemite National Park offers, our destination stay is the beautiful new Rush Creek Lodge, sister property of the renowned Evergreen Lodge, perfectly located near the west entrance to the park. Rush Creek Lodge is open and welcoming guests, conscious of the health and safety concerns of individuals and families and proudly meeting every precaution and preventive pandemic provision above and beyond California standards for sanitized, masked, safely distanced safety to best ensure a return to mindful hospitality.

Rush Creek sparkles as the newest Yosemite gem, boasting luxurious accommodations, 143 spacious guest rooms, suites, and hillside villas, impressive year round saltwater pool with two giant hot tubs, dining in the Rush Creek restaurant, notable tavern, and poolside, and a much anticipated designer Spa expected to open soon. Celebrating this exciting grand opening this year is a commitment to excellence in creating a memorable Yosemite experience for every guest.

Begin each day with a fresh and hearty breakfast ready to set off on your chosen adventure of the day, on your own with GPS and map in hand, or on a guided tour with your Rush Creek pro, with tours tailored to every family or group’s interests, experience and fitness level. Choose a day of hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, rafting, climbing, photography workshops, a unique glass blowing experience or time with a local artist.

On site, relaxed pool time, outdoor games, corn hole, ping pong, foosball, encourage fun filled competitions. Days end with mountain sunsets, cocktails and restaurant dining, and a finale of gatherings for nightly s’mores at the numerous Rush Creek firepits.

With a naturalist’s passion and thorough knowledge of the Yosemite flora and fauna, the near sacred highlights, photo ops, secrets and hidden pleasers for kids and grownups alike, our tour guides created the most worthwhile and enjoyable experience we could have hoped for on our Yosemite adventure. Hiking trails revealed animal tracks, rocks, and unexpected surprises making the time go by as children were engaged as detectives in games of discovery covering the distances. Our guides chose destinations with kids and adults in mind and we were all delighted, from a cave exploration, some tie and dye fun, an authentic glass blowing experience creating a beautiful glass ball from sand, to unlocking a crystal geode hidden in a rock. Unforgettable.

Your Rush Creek choice accommodation will be your cozy retreat at the end of each day, a haven of custom rustic and contemporary comfort in design and decor. Comfy beds with luscious linens and feather pillows invite perfect sleep in pure mountain air. Amenities include gourmet coffee brewer, games, books, WiFi, streaming radio, Alexa, private balconies with forest views, and seating ideal for curling up with a book or drifting off on a dream. Suites and villas offer additional bedroom options and amenities for families and friends. The tucked away hillside villas provide delightful forest getaways.

The new Rush Creek Spa promises to be an indoor/outdoor luxury wellness sanctuary reflecting the beauty and bounty of the natural environment of Yosemite incorporating natural granite and river rock, warm waterfall, Himalayan salt sauna, aromatherapy, steam room, cabanas, and a menu of massage and body treatments. Currently, the professional team provides guests with delightful outdoor cabana style massage treatments.

Already planning another trip to Yosemite and Rush Creek Lodge as we leave, the family is exhilarated with the explorations accomplished and memories made to treasure and share.
