Model Diaries: Victoria Justice + Madison Grace

Victoria Justice: Hi Guys. I’m Victoria Justice.
Madison Grace: And I’m her sister, Madison.
Victoria Justice: And we’re together on location right now in Cappadocia, Turkey, shooting our cover for Modeliste Magazine.
Victoria Justice: We’re here right now to sit down with you and get down to the nitty gritty, so we’ve compiled some questions for each other.
Madison Grace: Obviously traveling here was such an experience. How do you like traveling on Turkish Airlines?
Victoria Justice: I loved it. It was amazing. Well, this is our first time flying to Turkey, first of all, which was so exciting. And the whole flight experience was amazing! Everything. It was so comfortable. It was so cozy and so easy to like fall asleep. And I think one of my favorite things actually was their wide movie selection. There were like 200 movies. The categories just kept going.
Madison Grace: Totally. Movies for days.
Victoria Justice: And the food was really good too!
Madison Grace: Okay. Victoria, What’s your number one travel tip?
Victoria Justice: My number one travel tip would probably be … I always bring my favorite sleep mask with me to try and get some sleep on a plane. Drink lots of water and bring a good book.
Madison Grace: I would say leave room in your suitcase because you never know what you can find at the places that you travel and want to bring back.

Madison Grace: Let me ask you, What was the last good book you read?
Victoria Justice: The last good book I read was probably Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell.
Madison Grace: Oh yeah. You loved that one.
Victoria Justice: Yeah. I have a really bad habit … I love books so much and whenever I go into a bookstore, there are so many books that I see. I’m like, “I have to get that. I want to read that.” And then I get home and I will start a couple of different books and then I have to actually finish one. So I made it a goal to finish this book, and it took me a little bit but …
Madison Grace: Worth it?
Victoria Justice: I finished it recently – it was worth it. It was really good. Malcolm Gladwell is such a great author. I love books that I can really learn from and I felt like after I would read a chapter, I just felt a lot smarter. I really gained a lot of knowledge and it was a really good feeling.

Madison Grace: Definitely. What’s your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
Victoria Justice: My favorite thing to do in my spare time is probably hang out with you.
Madison Grace: Aw. Mine too, honestly.
Victoria Justice: Hang out with you, hang out with my family, hang out with my dogs, cuddle with my dogs.
Madison Grace: Go on hikes.
Victoria Justice: Go on hikes. Exploring if I get the chance to. There are so many areas in LA that I feel like I haven’t even explored yet.
Madison Grace: Yeah, great, just get in the car and go on an adventure.
Victoria Justice: I really love improv and going to see improv shows if I can. Listening to music, reading a good book, watching a good movie, and eating a good meal.
Madison Grace: Definitely.
Victoria Justice: What are you currently bingeing?
Madison Grace: Ooh, that’s a good question. Okay, so I’m really getting into Naked and Afraid. It’s great and I’m obsessed with it. I’ve binge-watched it. It’s really interesting just seeing all these people, survivalists, come together and try to survive for 21 days in nature. They come across all these different problems and it’s just really interesting. I highly recommend it.
Madison Grace: What podcasts are you currently listening to?
Victoria Justice: Actually going back to Malcolm Gladwell, he has a podcast called Revisionist History and it’s really interesting. I just listened to one that was all about different kinds of creative people. There were people who are really creative and know exactly what they want to do at the beginning of their careers and have all the success. And there are also really creative people who take their entire lives and are never fully satisfied with their creative work. He was also talking about the song, Hallelujah, that was made famous by Jeff Buckley, but it was actually written by Leonard Cohen. It took him five years to write, and the whole process of how that song actually came to be was just really, really fascinating.

Madison Grace: What is your favorite app?
Victoria Justice: My favorite app would probably be … I mean I use Instagram the most, but I don’t know if that’s my favorite app. I like this app called the Insight Timer.
Madison Grace: Insight Timer… I’m like you.
Victoria Justice: I use Insight Timer all the time when I go to sleep. And they have free meditations for sleeping or for grounding. It’s just awesome with cool sounds that calm and soothe. It’s really relaxing, and I think it’s an important app.
Madison Grace: Definitely. It has a community, which I love. I’m going to have to go with the Insight Timer too. I put it on every single night before I go to bed. My favorite one is “Breathing into Sleep”. It gets me every time. I’m asleep in 10 minutes when I put it on. I’m out.
Victoria Justice: “Breathing into Sleep” is the best!

Madison Grace: Next question, What do you always keep in your purse?
Victoria Justice: I always have lip balm. We’re lip balm addicts in our household.
Madison Grace: Mm-hmm (affirmative). Even our dad, like, “Do you have some lip balm?” He’s so cute. Got you guys.
Victoria Justice: Blotting sheets, if you’re out, blotting sheets are key to have. And gum.

Victoria Justice: Let’s see, if you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Madison Grace: Sushi. I love sushi. Sushi, salmon, albacore, albacore belly. Love it all.
Victoria Justice: I love sushi too. And Cuban food. They put tostones in the garlic dip, and like roasted pork, and rice and beans, and avocado.
Madison Grace: That’s the best.

Victoria Justice: Three makeup products I can’t live without. Probably my Burt’s Bees lip balm. Concealer, I’m a concealer addict. I love concealer. And I love blush? I feel like those are the essential things. If you don’t want to wear a lot of makeup, you just put some concealer on, some blush on, some tinted lip balm and automatically it just gives you a more awake, fresh look. It’s great and easy.
Victoria Justice: What is the most important part of your skincare routine?
Madison Grace: Oh, I have to wash my face before I go to bed every night.
Victoria Justice: Same, it’s so weird. When I was younger,I would just go to bed with my makeup on, and now, the thought of that, I … no.
Madison Grace: What about you?
Victoria Justice: Probably, when we both started using apple cider vinegar.
Madison Grace: Oh yeah, but you stuck to it more than I have.
Victoria Justice: Yeah. I really stuck to it because I was having some issues with my skin and it was really not fun. I wanted to do something that was natural, and my mom had heard about it and she told me to try this. And so, I just get water and mix in a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, put it on a cotton pad and then just do my whole face. I feel like it’s really helped my skin a lot. And it’s natural.
Madison Grace: Totally, your skin looks amazing.

Madison Grace: What’s your favorite thing about me?
Victoria Justice: My favorite thing about you, so many things. It’s hard to choose just one, but it’s true. Probably, you’re just the funniest person that I know for sure. I feel that’s something most people don’t know about you. If they were to just go to your profile or Instagram, they wouldn’t really get a sense of how hilarious you are. You’re one of the goofiest, weirdest people in the entire world in the most amazing way. You can always make me laugh. Constantly, I’m laughing if I’m with you! And you’re so optimistic, you have such fun energy, good vibes, and you’re outgoing.
Madison Grace: Thanks Vic. Love you.
Victoria Justice: What about me? What’s your favorite thing about me?
Madison Grace: Okay, so many things. I love how humble you are, how sweet you are, how you will always defend any of your friends or family members to the end. You’re just literally one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met in my life. And you’re my sister. I lucked out. I hit the Jackpot.
Victoria Justice: Aw, thanks Maddi.
Victoria Justice: Something that would surprise people about me is that I think maybe I’m more adventurous than people think.
Madison Grace: Definitely.
Victoria Justice: I love to go on adventures. I feel like I’m a pretty low-key person actually. I think people might think that because of what I do or whatever, it can seem so glamorous. Like, the hair and makeup or whatever. All the stuff, and the clothes and blah blah blah, maybe it would come across in a certain way. But I feel like I’m a pretty low-key person. In my everyday life, I wear Vans pretty much every day. I just like being comfortable. And… I’m kind of afraid of the dark and I’m really good at picking up things with my toes. I feel like some of my OG fans know this.
Victoria Justice: What is your favorite workout?
Madison Grace: That’s a good one. I love, love my hot yoga.
Victoria Justice: Oh yeah. Maddi’s hardcore when it comes to hot yoga, I can’t handle it. It’s so intense.
Madison Grace: What is the perfect evening for you?
Victoria Justice: Perfect evening for me. Probably going out to a really good dinner, like sushi, and then I’d like watching a really good movie or going to see cool live music. I love live music. That would be awesome. And then maybe coming back home and taking a nice warm shower.
Madison Grace: Yes, that sounds amazing.
Victoria Justice: I’m such a grandma. Coming home at 10:30, taking a shower, and using my apple cider vinegar.

Madison Grace: What’s your earliest childhood memory?
Victoria Justice: My earliest childhood memory. Oh gosh, I definitely have a lot of great childhood memories with you. I just remember so vividly, growing up in Florida, and we had a trampoline in our backyard and that was the highlight of our life. We would wake up in the morning and you and I would go jump on the trampoline. And Mark, he made a wooden swing for us and our friends.
Madison Grace: The swing!
Victoria Justice: And he wrote on the bottom of it, “For Victoria and Madison and their friends.” We moved out of that house and years later we went back…
Madison Grace: And it’s still there.
Victoria Justice: And we went to the backyard and the swing’s still there. And then I turned it around and the little note is still there, which was really cool.
Madison Grace: That’s so sweet, I remember that.

Victoria Justice: Advice I would give is to be kind to yourself, I think that’s really important. I think that’s something that we all have to remind ourselves to do. And, not to be cheesy, I just want to say, Follow your dreams, listen to your heart and your soul and follow what makes you happy and what you’re passionate about. And don’t let anyone stop you from doing that and from being authentically who you are.
Madison Grace: What’s a song that gets you pumped up?
Victoria Justice: A Lizzo song I would say. Like Juice, or Good as Hell. I like that one.
Madison Grace: What are you most excited about these days?
Victoria Justice: These days, I am most excited about making music! I’ve been in the studio, and I’ve been writing and I’ve been really excited about some songs that I have that haven’t been released yet.
Madison Grace: Me too, girl.
Victoria Justice: I haven’t put out music in such a long time and I’m just excited about making music, and singing things that feel really real and honest to where I am right now and who I am at this point in my life. I mean, you know, I’m so passionate about music. I love it, it’s just so much fun. It makes me happy. I just feel like my soul really comes alive!
Madison Grace: You’re always singing every day; rehearsing at the house, or just around people! You can’t help it.
Victoria Justice: It makes the world turn perfectly. And it’s just the best way to express myself.

Madison Grace: If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would it be?
Victoria Justice: Probably Oprah. How amazing would it be to switch lives with Oprah for a day?
Madison Grace: That would be incredible. She’s so insightful.
Victoria Justice: I mean, first of all to have all her wisdom for a day. And then I’m sure she just has like the craziest life, I don’t know, it would just be awesome.
Madison Grace: If I could switch with someone for one day, I think Katy Perry, I love her.
I mean, I love all of her songs and just watching her on American Idol.
Victoria Justice: And her wardrobe.

Madison Grace: If your life was a song, what would the title be?
Victoria Justice: Five More Minutes. I feel like just in general, “Just give me five more minutes. Yup. I’ll be at the door in five minutes.” I need just a little bit more time….

Madison Grace: Last question, What do you love most about Modeliste Magazine?
Victoria Justice: That’s a great one. I think what I love most about Modeliste Magazine would be the destination travel aspect of it – it is so cool! And I feel like just being here in Turkey is amazing getting to explore a different culture. And also, I feel like everyone in Modeliste has really just allowed me to do my thing, and incorporate my own style and it’s been super collaborative and awesome.
Madison Grace: Totally. I love that.
Victoria Justice: So I am so excited for everyone to see this cover. It’s been such an epic shoot and it’s going to be really cool so I can’t wait for it to come out. Love you Maddi. It was so fun being in a shoot with my sister too. She’s the best ever. You guys should follow her. She’s amazing.
Thank you so much Modeliste Magazine! We love you guys!
Madison Grace: Thank you, we love you!
