What first sparked your passion for working in the fashion and beauty industry?
My passion for helping people initially started when I saw a gap in natural hair care
education. I began creating hair content which then blossomed into skincare, beauty, fashion, and lifestyle.
How would you describe your style evolution over the past few years?
Transformative. I never saw myself becoming who I am today because influencing was
never a ‘real job’ to me until it became one. My story has become relatable to thousands of women and I can only thank God for that.
What’s a beauty or wellness ritual you swear by when traveling?
Working out and getting a massage. One stimulates you mentally and the other relaxes
you physically.
What’s one item in your carry-on that you can’t live without?
My lip gloss! My lips stay popping!
Looking back, what’s a milestone in your career that still feels surreal?
Pivoting my career from only creating hair content to now being centered around me as a person. Without a successful rebrand, my career wouldn’t be where it is today.
What’s the most valuable piece of advice you’ve received from a mentor or fellow
creator?
Saying no is okay. Putting yourself first and protecting your peace is not selfish—it’s
necessary.
With such a busy schedule, how do you prioritize balance and self-care?
I find ways to implement self-care within my busy schedule regardless of location. My
home has become wherever I am, not only when I’m home. I work out on the go, have spa visits on the go, and read, meditate, and pray on the go.
Was there a collaboration or campaign that felt like a true “pinch me” moment?
Working with Dermalogica. They’re the brand that helped transform my highly
hyperpigmented skin, and just a few months after sharing my journey I landed a long-term deal with them and was then invited on a brand trip. Mind blowing.
What’s a lesson you’ve learned about yourself through your journey as an
influencer?
The experiences I’ve lived through serve as lessons to my audience, and that makes
everything worthwhile.
Is there a mantra or piece of advice you remind yourself of often?
It always works out in my favor. I commend myself on being a good person at the core, so
I know every experience will work out no matter how difficult.
Do you have any upcoming projects or collaborations you’re especially excited
about?
I love all my collaborations, and because I love to travel I’m manifesting a Delta and
American Express partnership.
What was your favorite part of Modeliste’s Puerto Vallarta Getaway?
I loved the photoshoots! The team really pushed us outside of our comfort zones.
What did you love most about your stay at the Velas Vallarta Resort?
The staff were the sweetest! They were so accommodating and made our stay memorable!
