Where are you from and how does it differ from where you live now?
I grew up in Singapore, a beautiful ‘Garden City’ in Southeast Asia. I currently live in New York City. Both places are huge melting pots of different cultures.
If you had to summarize your beauty routine in five steps, what would it be?
Step 1: I start by washing my face with a gentle cleanser in the morning
Step 2: Follow by an essence
Step 3: Then I’ll apply hydrating serum & Vitamin C serum
Step 4: Next my eye cream.
Step 5: Then I’ll finish off with moisturizer and sunscreen.
What’s your go-to Showpo outfit for lunch with the girls this summer?
For a casual lunch with the girls, I’ll wear the Terah shirt and high waisted shorts in green. If I’m in the mood for a dress, I’d go with the Dyjana ruched strapless mini dress and maybe throw an oversize blazer over it.
What’re your favorite stores to shop, in store & online?
Anine Bing, Lioness, Djerf Avenue, Oak and fort.
How did you develop the career you have today? What tips & tricks can you extend to someone aspiring to have a career like your own?
I started my page sharing outfit styling tips & travel recommendations – things that felt authentic to me. Eventually my interest in skin care and make-up grew, so I started sharing that too. I’d say consistency is key. Anyone can post a photo of a cute outfit or make-up look these days, but keeping it up is the hard part. I didn’t make any money the first year I was doing it, but eventually I built a community and relationship with my audience.
Who and what inspires you? Why?
My Mother. Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how she was 27 when she had me. I am turning 27 later this year and I still feel like a kid trying to figure out adulthood. I really admire her bravery, resilience and kindness.
A good book and/or TV show you read/watched recently?
A book, Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. A TV show, We Crashed.
What was your favorite part of the Modeliste getaway to Cabo Corazon?
Going out on the electric surfing eFoil was amazing & definitely a good work out!
What’s a fun fact our Modeliste readers would be surprised to know about you?
That I’m actually an introvert and a homebody. On an ideal weekend I’d be at home in sweatpants, either cooking or doing a face mask.
How do you hope to influence people through your social media platforms?
I hope my styling and make-up tips make people realize that fashion or beauty isn’t as intimidating as people think. I try to break things down into bite-sized pieces of information that are easy to consume!
When’s the last time you cried happy tears?
This past Christmas!
What’s the craziest fan experience you’d ever had? What would you like to say to your fans?
I’ve only had pleasant ones honestly, lately I’ve been running into them more on the streets and it always makes my day. I’d like to thank them for being a part of this community because I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without them.
What would you title this chapter in your life?
Embracing Growth, maybe?
Are you working on any exciting projects you’d like to share?
I’m working on a two part video series with SKII, a skin care brand I’ve been using since I was 18. It feels surreal and kinda a full circle moment. After that I’m going to Montauk with Anthropologie for a Solstice retreat and possibly Vegas for a red carpet with a jewelry brand.
