What inspired you to begin your journey as a content creator, entrepreneur, or influencer?
What inspired me to start my content journey was my eldest sister, Jessica Carmona. She was the first person in our family to pursue content creation and eventually turn it into a full-time career. In 2022, I was finishing up college, searching for a job in my field, working a part-time job, and completing cosmetology school to become a licensed nail technician while also starting my own nail business. It was a challenging and transitional time for me, and seeing how well things were going for my sister, she encouraged me to give content creation a try, starting with fashion. She became my biggest mentor, teaching me everything from equipment and filming to editing and navigating different platforms. While I loved creating content, growth was slow, and over time I began to realize that fashion might not be my true calling. I even considered stepping away from content creation altogether, but my sister encouraged me to give hair content a try, especially since I had always received so many compliments and questions about my curls.
That encouragement completely changed the direction of my journey. After transitioning to hair and beauty content at the beginning of 2024, I found a community that truly connected with me and my story. Since then, I’ve built a beautiful and supportive community across my platforms, partnered with some of my dream brands, and had the opportunity to be in rooms I once never imagined I’d be in. My journey has taught me that sometimes you have to be willing to explore different paths before you find the one that truly feels like your own.
How would you describe your personal style, and where do you find fashion inspiration?
My personal style is always evolving, and I love that about it. I used to lean more toward sneakers and a tomboy-inspired look, but these days I’m drawn to flowy dresses, oversized jeans, long, relaxed pants, and anything that feels effortless and comfortable. At the same time, I’ve been having fun experimenting with some of the trends I’m loving right now, like halter tops, capris, and tabis. When it comes to fashion inspiration, I love scrolling through Pinterest and following fashion creators whose style I admire. I’ll often see a trend or a piece that catches my eye and find ways to incorporate it into my wardrobe while still staying true to the silhouettes, colors, and styles I naturally gravitate toward. For me, fashion is about experimenting, having fun, and allowing my personal style to evolve with me.
What are three wardrobe staples you can't live without?
Three wardrobe staples I can't live without are a soft, fitted basic black or white tee, a pair of baggy wide-leg jeans and this one might be controversial but a pair of Crocs! I love pieces that are comfortable, versatile and easy to style and these are three staples that I reach for on a weekly basis.
What does a typical day in your life look like when you're not traveling?
My days are pretty chill for the most part. I love starting my mornings by going to the pool and soaking up some sun, followed by a nice breakfast and tidying up around the house. From there, I’ll usually spend some time brainstorming content ideas and planning what I want to film so I can always have a handful of pieces drafted and ready to post. Depending on what I have going on, I’ll spend the rest of the day filming, editing, or creating content. I also love retail shopping, so I’ll often take some time to browse my favorite stores and see what catches my eye. I usually end my day by visiting my parents and spending time with my family. It’s a pretty simple routine, but I love having a balance between creating, doing things I enjoy, and spending time with the people I love.
What passions or interests do you have outside of social media and content creation?
Outside of social media and content creation, one of my biggest passions is art. I have a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, and I love spending my free time creating digital art, sketching, and painting. I also have a passion for doing nails. Although I no longer take clients and mainly do my own nails now, nail art has become another creative outlet for me. I love treating nails like a tiny canvas and using them to bring my ideas to life. I’ve created everything from anime and cartoon characters to movie-inspired nail designs and so much more. Both art and nail design allow me to express myself creatively in ways that are completely separate from social media.
What has been the most rewarding moment of your career so far?
The most rewarding moment of my career so far would honestly have to be this brand trip with Modeliste, and it being my first one makes it even more special. One of my career goals on my vision board for this year was to go on a brand trip, so when this opportunity came along, I was completely shocked and filled with so much excitement. Knowing that a team of people saw something in me and intentionally chose me to be part of this experience has been such a surreal feeling. It’s been a beautiful reminder that I’m on the right path and that there are people out there who see my work, believe in me, and want to create opportunities with me.
It can be easy to feel discouraged in this industry, especially when you see the same faces being chosen for opportunities time and time again. Being here has made me even more hopeful for the future and excited to see more opportunities created for Afro-Latina women like me. I hope my journey can also inspire other women who look like me to pursue their dreams, take up space and know that there is a place for them in these rooms, too.
Who are some of the women that inspire you and why?
The women who inspire me most are my mom and my eldest sister, Jessica. I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without either of them. I’m incredibly grateful to have a mom who has always encouraged me to pursue my passions and interests, even when they may not be the most traditional path. She has always taught me to give things a chance, explore what excites me, and never be afraid to see where my interests might lead me. My sister Jessica has also had such a huge impact on my life and my career. She was the person who encouraged me to start creating content in the first place, and she has been a mentor and source of support throughout my journey. If she had never encouraged me to give content creation a try, I honestly don’t think I would be where I am today or even answering questions for this magazine. I’m so grateful to have both of these women in my corner, and I hope to continue making them proud.
What is one piece of advice that has had a lasting impact on your life?
One piece of advice that has had a lasting impact on my life is to be confident and always stay true to yourself. Being on the internet and having thousands of eyes on you comes with its challenges. When you see negative comments or receive hurtful messages, it can be easy to internalize those words and start questioning yourself or your worth. Over time, I’ve learned to be confident in who I am and remind myself that I know myself better than anyone else does. Not everyone is going to understand or appreciate you, and that’s okay. What matters is staying true to yourself and not allowing someone else’s opinion to change how you see yourself. Building that confidence has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally and it’s something I carry with me in every aspect of my life.
How do you stay motivated and creatively inspired?
It can honestly be a bit difficult to stay motivated and creatively inspired. There are only so many hairstyles one can do before you start repeating them! When I feel stuck, hopping on trends and seeing what my mutuals and other creators are doing can help spark new ideas. My mind is constantly running, so I’m always finding inspiration in the world around me. Whether it’s a product I come across, a new environment, something I see while I’m out, or even a random thought that pops into my head, I’ll jot it down and think about how I can turn it into content. I’ve learned to keep my eyes open and find inspiration in the little things because, to me, almost anything and everything can become content!
What are your favorite beauty products or self-care rituals at the moment?
At the moment, I absolutely love a good body butter and shimmering oil combo. To me, the best accessory to a great outfit is glowing skin! When it comes to my hair, a good mousse, gel, and my Denman brush never steer me wrong. These are definitely a few of my current go-to essentials for feeling my best, whether I’m getting ready for the day or
creating content.
When planning a trip, what are the top three things you look for in a destination?
When planning a trip, the top three things I look for in a destination are beautiful beaches, fun things to do, and safety. I love being able to relax and enjoy the scenery, but I also want a destination where I can explore, experience new things, and make the most of my time there.
What does luxury travel mean to you?
To me, luxury travel means comfort, a beautiful atmosphere, exceptional hospitality, and breathtaking scenery. It’s about being able to fully relax and enjoy your surroundings while feeling taken care of throughout the entire experience.
If you could visit anywhere in the world next, where would it be and why?
If I could visit anywhere in the world next, it would be Japan or Brazil. Both are at the top of my bucket list, and I know I’ll make it to both in this lifetime. I’m drawn to the cultures, the people, the art, and, of course, the food. I would love the opportunity to fully immerse myself in the culture and experience these places beyond just being a tourist.
What is something your followers would be surprised to learn about you?
I think my followers would be surprised to learn that I’m 5’8”. A lot of people I meet in person are shocked to find out that I’m actually pretty tall. Apparently, everyone perceives me as being short through my videos!
What is your favorite way to unwind and recharge?
My absolute favorite way to unwind is listening to music poolside or at the beach. I’ve always loved being around water, and it’s something that helps me relax both mentally and physically. Whenever I’m feeling mentally stuck, anxious, or overwhelmed, being in or near the water always helps me reset and find my sense of calm again. It’s my version of zen.
How do you balance your personal life with the demands of content creation and social media?
I’m still trying to figure this out to this day! Because I don’t necessarily clock in and out of a traditional workplace, my schedule doesn’t always have set hours, so my work and personal life can easily blur together and overlap. I’m learning to be more intentional about creating a schedule for myself and setting boundaries. When I’m working, I want to be fully focused on work, and when I’m spending time with family or enjoying my personal life, I’m learning not to bring work into those moments. It’s definitely a work in progress, but I’m getting better at being present and creating a healthier balance.
What is your favorite song right now?
My favorite song is “Get You” by Daniel Caesar featuring Kali Uchis but I absolutely love anything PARTYNEXTDOOR!
What upcoming projects, collaborations, launches, or exciting news would you like to share with our readers?
At the moment, I’m just enjoying my summer and taking some time to focus on myself and my mental well-being. I’m also excited about what’s ahead and would look forward to collaborating with some of my favorite brands on upcoming product launches and fall campaigns!
Looking back on your time at Hotel Mousai Cancun, what was the highlight of your experience, and what made it so memorable?
My entire stay at Hotel Mousai Cancun was absolutely incredible, but the highlight of my experience was the amazing hospitality. The staff were so kind, attentive, and accommodating, which made the entire stay feel truly special. The food, from the room service to the restaurants, was incredible, and every dish felt meticulously curated and thoughtfully prepared. The cleanliness and attention to detail throughout the property were also amazing, and, of course, the views were breathtaking. Waking up every morning to views of the ocean and pools was so refreshing and peaceful. And the rooms?! Honestly, they were some of the most beautiful I’ve ever stayed in. The space was incredibly spacious, the artwork brought so much life and personality to the room, and the technology made the experience feel so elevated. Imagine getting ready for a fun night out while playing your favorite songs through a speaker in theceiling! It was such a unique experience, and all of these little details came together to make my stay at Hotel Mousai Cancun truly unforgettable.
