Mode Around the Globe: Vanessa Ariel Torres
@vanessaarieltorres
What’s a step in your skincare routine that you cannot go a day without?
A quality moisturizer! My skin is happiest when it is dewy.
Favorite beauty products?
Brown-girl nude lipsticks, copper eyeshadow and face spray.
What’s your go-to lip combo?
Charlotte Tilbury Lip pencil in Hollywood Honey and Mac lipstick in pretty much any deep nude/rust color.
What was your favorite part of the Modeliste and Image Skincare event?
Definitely the facial. The estheticians are so gentle and the bed was so cozy, I almost fell asleep.
What’s been a highlight of 2022 so far and what’re you looking forward to most in this current moment?
There have been so many crazy opportunities and rewarding things that have happened so far, I can’t just name one! I went to Belize and collaborated with the Belize Collection resorts over there which was my first official hospitality collaboration. I finally visited another side of the world in my first Modeliste feature a few months ago and I went to Italy to act as the muse for a music video- although I can’t name whose yet! I also ended up on a huge digital billboard in Miami which I obviously took pictures in front of. I went to Colombia and while there, I created and edited a video for a client who happened to be having a runway show for Miami Swim week. She and the event coordinator both loved it so much, they used my video for the opening of her show! It was at the Kollective Moda event at a beautiful mansion on the Venetian islands with well over 400 people there. It was pretty incredible to get that amount of recognition for something I just taught myself how to do less than a year ago. I’m looking forward to what the rest of this year brings me! So far, I’ve successfully brought so many things into my life that I told myself would happen because I believed it and moved accordingly. The power of manifestation is nothing mystical; it’s bound to work because so much of our life experiences are based on our mindsets going into them.
What can people expect to see when visiting @vanessaarieltorres?
So much travel content that I have to remember to highlight my fashion work as well! I still have yet to post all planned content from Italy, Colombia and Swim week, so there will be lots of beautifully curated content from all of those – primarily videos. I’m also eager to get a lot of mini passion projects up – just videos that I want to really put energy into creating from footage I have.
How do you hope to influence people through your social media platform(s)?
I hope to influence people to live with the mindset that you can achieve anything you set your mind on. I’ve been a Neuroscience & Behavior student, researcher, model, influencer, content creator,
video editor, styling assistant, executive assistant, and tried my hand at so many other things all with the intention of broadening my skill set even more. I’ve recently been more intentional with sharing these things on my platform. My point with saying this is that I hope to show people that you can do everything, as long as you love what you’re doing.
Go to outfit for a dinner out with the girls?
An elevated co-ord with lots of fun jewelry.
What’s your favorite fashion trend at the moment?
I try not to follow trends too strictly because I enjoy doing my own thing, but if there were one that I love, it would be low-rise pants, especially low-rise dress pants! Also, I love that sustainable, slow fashion is trendy now and am happy to see more and more people becoming conscious of their eco footprint.
Favorite beauty trend?
Clean and sustainable beauty. Also, I love how siren eyes look, but I haven’t tried it yet!
What would you title this current chapter of your life?
“Transitioning”
What can people expect to see from you in 2022? Any projects you can share?
More curated lifestyle, story-like video content as I’ve been enjoying that more than still photos recently. I’ll also be attending NYFW for the first time and will be going with a pretty prestigious PR company that I met recently and really connected with, so I’m excited to be going with them. I also want to delve into photography finally since there’s so many creative concepts I’d love to try but need muses other than just myself! I already do some scope of work behind the camera because of the video-editing, but I want to adopt a role that would allow me even more creative control for bigger productions.
A fun fact our Modeliste readers would be surprised to know about you?
Apart from pursuing research and my graduate degrees in Neuroscience, I think something that usually surprises people is that I don’t live in Miami. I live hours away but am rarely ever home because of in-person work, traveling for work, networking and all my friends that keep me in town, especially with everything being so last-second in Miami. I think I’ll finally be moving to Miami though within the next few months. After having been in this industry for about 5 years now, it’s about time.
What’s your favorite Image Skincare product?
The I Mask sheet masks are my favorite.
What would you like to say to your fans?
Stay focused on your goals! Be gentle with the push you give yourself, but do give that extra push. Surround yourself with people that remind you that you are more in control than you think and that you can make nearly anything you want happen for yourself. I’ve talked to so many people who seem to have been going through all kinds of stressful life situations, but regardless, they are some of the most successful people I know at their age. I’d like to say, I believe in you. 🙂
